Oceans
Ocean System 03
System 03 is a kilometres-long, U-shaped floating barrier towed at walking pace between two vessels. It uses the ocean's own currents to funnel drifting plastic into a retention zone, where it's periodically extracted, sorted and shipped to shore for recycling.

How it works
- 01
Deploy
The barrier is towed into an accumulation zone and unfolded into a wide, slow-moving U.
- 02
Concentrate
A modelled tow speed lets plastic gather in the retention zone while marine life passes safely beneath.
- 03
Extract
Once full, the retention zone is closed, lifted aboard a support vessel and emptied.
- 04
Recycle
Collected plastic is sorted, certified and turned into traceable recycled material.
